how can i become a better wide reciever?
i am getting ready for the football season, and i want to be first or second string reciever. our team runs a fly offense, so we basically only have one real wide reciever in at a time. my 40 time is about a 4.7-4.8, and i have a 35 inch vertical. i am only 5’10″ though, so i am not the tallest player out there. my biggest problem is my hands. i can get open really well, but i have a little trouble catching. does anybody have any suggestions. i dont usually have another person training with me, so i have to do that on my own. any advise will help.
okay being that i used to play reciever in high school and for a division 2 college team this is how u get better at your position. u know those ball throwing machines that ur coach would have u practice with? for your hands situation stand about 10 yards from one and have some one feed the football through the machine while u catch them.. that will work on ur hand eye cordnation while u are doing this try catching the balls with your fingers instead of your palms….this will help them get stronger therefore making it impossible to rip the ball from u while getting tackled…. then 2 get your speed up try running wind sprints with a parachute hooked to u… yeah i know it sounds funny but it actually works this will help with your speed to seperate from a defensive back… last but not least is the weight room but dont just bench press… work on your legs by doing squats and not just one to two sets try them in sets of five… gradually increasing the weight as you squat lift… by then u should move up from second string 2 first in no time…..
